Bill Frequently Asked Questions
New Bill Format Q & A :
Q: Why did the bill change?A: This new bill format was legislated by the Ontario Ministry of Energy to standardize electricity bills for low volume customers across the province in hopes of providing a simpler, easier to understand bill. All of the terminology on the bill, including the glossary on the back has been specified in the regulations. Everyone in the province will see these same charges described the same way on their bills.
Q: It looks like I'm paying more
A: Our rates have not changed. All of the charges you have been paying have remained the same. All that has changed is the way the charges on your bill are grouped.
Q: I can't calculate my bill
A: That is true. Based on the information provided on the bill, you cannot calculate the bill. You can see all the detail behind the bill if you check your account online at www.guelphhydro.com. along with our current rate schedule. If you do not have Internet access, we can print out the detail behind the bill for you.
Q: What do these different terms mean?
A: All of the charges are described on the back of the bill. You can also get a detailed description of these charges on the OEB website: http://www.oeb.gov.on.ca or our website www.guelphhydro.com
Q: Who can I contact about these changes?
A: If you would like more information than we were able to provide at our office, you can contact the Ontario Energy Board at http://www.oeb.gov.on.ca or by phone at 1-877-632-2727.
