Smart Meters and Time-of-Use Rates

All Guelph Hydro residential and small commercial customers have had their smart meter installed and will be switched over to Time-of-Use rates for electricity during the summer and fall of 2011.

*Customers will receive a letter notifying them that they will be switching over to Time-of-Use rates approximately 60 days before they receive their first Time-of-Use bill. Please note that the changeover will happen automatically. There is no need for customers to do anything. Customers who wish to know the exact changeover date should call the Customer Service Department during normal business hours at 519 822 3010 or email tou@guelphhydro.com.

*If you currently purchase your electricity on a contract with an energy retailer, you will continue to follow the terms and prices stated in your contract.

Time-of-Use Rates for Electricity
Guelph Hydro residential and business customers (electricity demand of less than 50 kW) will be migrating to time-of-use rates for electricity in mid-2011. Customers will receive advance notice and tips to help them manage their electricity bill under time-of-use rates. Until a customer is migrated to time-of-use rates, they will see no change on their electricity bill even if they have a smart meter installed.
