Providing Incentives for Energy Efficient Retrofits

The Ontario Power Authority, in cooperation with Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc., are assisting Commercial, Industrial, Institutional and Agricultural customers to conserve energy.

The objective of ERIP is to encourage energy conservation and load management by offering incentives for sustainable and measurable energy retrofits that result in on-peak demand savings and/or annual energy savings.

Retrofitting an existing facility with newer equipment is a common business practice. The Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) appreciates that when a business is making choices between different equipment options, the desired choice is for the most energy efficient solution. However, for financing or timing reasons, other choices may be made.

ERIP provides incentives to influence business decisions in favour of the most energy efficient ones.

ERIP focuses on the areas of lighting, motors, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and overall electricity systems. These areas cover the majority of the most important upgrades for businesses operations.

ERIP is made up of two project types:

• Prescriptive Projects have pre-defined measures with corresponding per-unit incentives.
• Custom Projects for customers requiring more specific solutions to electricity efficiency retrofitting

Applicants must be a non-residential general service customer.

Applicants must be owners or tenants of business premises supplied by Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc.

Please note that if you are a tenant, you must obtain permission from the property owner for installation of the measures for which an incentive is claimed.

This is a limited time offer and applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Project application deadline December 31, 2010.
Eligible projects must be completed prior to December 1, 2011.
