Request for Temporary Disconnection from Electrical Service - Commercial and Business Customers |
Customers and contractors occasionally require a temporary disconnection from the Guelph Hydro service to allow them to safely perform station maintenance on electrical items such as customer-owned transformers and high-voltage primary switchgear. Guelph Hydro policy is such that we will only allow Guelph Hydro staff to break an electrical connection from our network. Complete the Request for Temporary Disconnection to Electrical Service online form to request a temporary interruption to the electrical service. A member of our team will contact you regarding your request. Please note: This form is for use by commercial and business customers only. Residential customers who would like to arrange a disconnection or service upgrade should email Technical Services or call 519-822-3017, Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. |

Sign off on Demolition Permits |
If you require a sign off for demolition, email your Demolition Sign Off Permit provided by the City of Guelph (in Guelph) or the Township of Guelph / Eramosa (Rockwood) to Technical Services. |
Disconnection of Electricity Service to Vacant Premises |
With the receipt of a written request from the owner/ landlord, Alectra Utilities (formerly Guelph Hydro) will disconnect the supply of electricity to a vacant premise. Requests can be emailed to Customer Service or call Customer Service at 519-822-3010. Service that is disconnected for more than six months, will require an Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) inspection prior to reconnection. |

If you or your contractor plan to install a pool, put up a fence, plant a tree, dig a garden, landscape, excavate, or add a room to a house, you will need to contact Ontario One Call to locate underground services (electricity, cable, Internet, telephone, water, natural gas, etc.). This is a free service for excavators and homeowners, 24 hours a day, seven days a week |
