 Four phases of power restoration

In the event of a large power outage, Guelph Hydro / Alectra Utilities restores power in phases.

  • Phase 1 - We work to restore power first to hospitals, water pumping stations, waste treatment plants and other critical community services.
  • Phase 2 - Next, we restore power to other important community services. These can include community centres, retirement homes, locations of emergency services and other important locations.
  • Phase 3 - Then we work to restore power to as many large groups of customers as possible by reconnecting neighbourhoods or streets.
  • Phase 4 - Finally, we restore power to individual homes and businesses.
